Latvian Water supply and canalization companies’ association (abbreviation LWCA) – 25.anniversary

Latvian Water supply and canalization companies’ association (abbreviation LWCA) is founded on May 24th, 1990.  Association is one of the first professional associations in Latvia. At that time there was a distraction in the country, when due to different reasons all governmental structures, related to water management area and water management activities, were eliminated. Actually, this area was working by inertia and using inner resources reserves. That was the main reason why foundation of the association was so necessary. Association was founded basing on volunteering principle, joining 13 water management companies from Aizkraukle, Cēsis, Daugavpils, Valmiera, Jelgava, Jēkabpils, Jūrmala, Kuldīga, Liepaja, Līvaāni, Talsi and Ventspils, as well as Riga region.

The main target of the association is to provide continuous, safe and qualitative water supply and canalization services, complying with economy in Latvia, legislation of European Union and Republic of Latvia, environmental regulations, as well as contracts concluded with consumers.

Today already 28 water management companies and 8 associated companies are operating in association. Association has 10 members of honor – persons, who dedicated their lives to water management area and carried the development of the area “on their shoulders” for many years.

Realizing the significance of water in everyday life of each inhabitant of the planet in its widest meaning, SIA “VEGA 1” is taking care of preservation and treatment of water resources for many years, providing sewage water treatment technologies and knowledge’s to anyone who is interested in and successfully implemented many projects.

Since June 1st, 2014, SIA “VEGA 1” is the member of the association and actively joining everyday activities of LWCA, providing comments and suggestions for better and cleaner future of all of us.

In this important anniversary day, SIA “VEGA 1” is one of many who congratulate LWCA and wishes association fulfillment of common goals in the closest future.
